Could the timing be any better? These students are so motivated to read and earn "punches", and now our book orders are ready to be sent home! I have spent more time than I care to admit searching the Scholastic website looking at all of the amazing deals. I even created quite the wish lists!
Every order adds points to our classroom total. With these points, I can purchase more books for our classroom library. It is my hope to make a BIG deal out of the arrival of our boxes. We even got new stands to display our new books! (Picture coming soon!) Attached to the flyers will be an information sheet to help with ordering on-line. If you have any questions or are looking for recommendations, please don't hesitate to ask! Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping instill a love of reading!

It is hard to believe the first week of school has come and gone! This week has been full of activities for us to get to know each other better. After this week, I am beyond excited to see what the rest of the school year has in store for us. This week, we started taking some reading tests. We spent time talking about how important these are because they show me what they already know! Today we started working on our first Study Island benchmark. I cannot believe how hard each of the students worked! I was beyond impressed! Our goal is to show improvement in our scores by the end of the week. Next week we will be able to have conferences and set goals together. On Tuesday, we will start working with our new Houghton Mifflin program! We are going to spend the first two cycles on this first lesson that way we are sure to practice the expectations for the rest of the year. Since we are stretching this lesson out for two cycles, next cycle will be quiz free! Yay! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to let me know! Miss Dugan's Homeroom on the first day of school! Mrs. Strayer's homeroom on the second day of school (but first full day with me!)
