We are trying out something new..and we are BEYOND excited about it!
Next year, our 6th graders are going 1-1 with Chromebooks. What does this mean? Well, each student in 6th grade will have their own Chromebook to use daily during lessons. It is our districts hope that this will also trickle down to 5th and 4th grades. To help the students, and myself, get ready for such a big change, we are going to try out some of the features that they will be using when they are working 1-1. After talking with the 6th grade teachers, it sounded like they were going to work with Google Classroom. This is an online site where students will be able o turn work into me, I can post assignments and questions to answer, and all of the information is stored in my account. To make it even better, you can have access as well! The more we submit to this, the quicker you will have access to their grades! So how can you join? Follow the steps below. If you're still unsure, just let me know and I'll do my best to help! 1. From Google, type in "Google Classroom" into the search bar. Click on the first link that appears. 2.Depending on your usage with Google Apps, you will either need to click the small "+" sign at the top, or click "I am a parent" closer to the bottom. 3. You will be asked for a classroom code. ---If your child is in my homeroom, type in this code: q4vqx9 ---If your child is in Mrs. Strayers homeroom, type in this code: ffxt8mw To be completely honest, using Google Classroom is a new adventure for me. This is truly going to be a learning experience for all of us. I could not pick a better group of students and parents to join me on this crazy adventure with technology!
